Dean Howard, ABCP
Alberta Health Services – Emergency/Disaster Management
Dean Howard is an Emergency Management Officer with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and has been in healthcare for 11 years. Dean has 10 years’ service in EMS and was an Operations Supervisor for the North West Division of AHS when he transitioned to Emergency Management.
Dean lived in British Columbia and as an Acting Unit Chief with the BC Ambulance Service received an RCMP field commendation. In addition to the Ambulance Service he also served as an Auxiliary Constable with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police| E Division and logged more than 630 hours in the field.
Dean served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 4 years and in the early 90s was involved in a North Atlantic Treaty Organization Partner for Peace (NATO PfP) exercise overseas where he worked with multiple NATO countries and NATO applicants in Holland.
Dean has professional affiliations with the International Association of Emergency Managers – Canada, the Disaster Recovery Institute of Canada and the Alberta College of Paramedics and is currently the Scholarship Commissioner for IAEM Canada.
However, most importantly he is a husband to a very patient wife and a dad to 3 wonderful children.
